The scout group

We’re delighted to offer Scouting to boys and girls of all abilities and of any religion, aged from 6-18.

1st Brill Scout group offers fun, friendship and adventure for all age groups whether they are joining the Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, Scout Troop or Explorer Scout Unit.

We have four active groups:

  • Beavers for 6 - 8 years old
  • Cubs for 8 - 10 years old
  • Scouts for children 10 - 14 years old
  • Panther Explorers for children 14 - 18 years old

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet regularly each week during term-time in the Scout Hut and take also go on excursions and camps in the surrounding area.  Panther Explorers cover Haddenham, Long Crendon, and Oakley as well as Brill, so tend to have meetings in other scout HQs as well as Brill.

Each section is led by Warranted Leaders.  These are volunteers who have undertaken formal training to ensure the standards of the Scout Movement are upheld and that the young people in their care receive full, diverse and activity filled programmes.  You find out who the warranted leaders are for each section on the who's who page.

Besides the Warranted Leaders we have a number of people who help on a regular basis as section assistants.

All Leaders and regular helpers are required to have DBS checks before involvement with the children.

Our leaders plan activity programmes using Scout Council guidelines to promote the Aims of the Scout Association.  Each activity will contribute towards a badge or an award for each child.  You can learn more about these on the challenges and awards page.

We look for the active involvement of all our parents.  Parents will be asked to support section meetings once or twice a term.

And we welcome everybody to come and join our adventure by helping us in whatever way you can:  supporting a section meeting, using a particular skill or craft with the children, helping run the section or even the scout group itself.  See the section "join our adventure" for more details.
