Explorer Scouts is the group for young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. Teenagers will come to us either from the scout group or through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme. What is noticeable, is that once they have arrived, they then stay with us.
Panther ESU is the local explorer unit and draws on teenagers from the Brill, Haddenham, Long Crendon and Oakley areas. And basically they have fun: activities range from camping and hiking, to music and games nights.
In addition a lot of our teenagers join their local scout group (such as us, Brill Scouts) as young leaders, helping with beavers, cubs or scouts on a regular basis.
Being part of the Chiltern Vale District, the explorers get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in the District (which stretches from Lane End in the south via Princes Risborough, Haddenham and Long Crendon to Oakley in the north) so they can take part in an even wider spectrum of activities.
There is also a range of ambitious badges and awards, through which Explorers can demonstrate their proficiencies and expand their interests.
For more information you can contact the Explorer Scout Leader, Tom Johnson, at panther@chilternvalescouts.org.uk, or contact us and we will make the contact for you.
