Adults

You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting. Do you have first aid knowledge? Are you good with numbers? Handy in the kitchen? Or are you a DIY whizz? We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways.  We will welcome you!

Parents

Parents tell us their children benefit hugely from the adventures, fun and friendships they experience. It can help develop your child’s social skills and independence, and give them access to some amazing and memorable opportunities.

And you can make a huge difference:  whatever your skills and availability, there will be some way you can contribute, meaning more young people get to experience the adventure of Scouting.  Some examples might be:

Our sections

We’re delighted to offer Scouting to boys and girls of all abilities and of any religion, aged from 6-18.

We have four active groups:

  • Beavers for 6 - 8 years old
  • Cubs for 8 - 10 years old
  • Scouts for children 10 - 14 years old
  • Explorers for children 14 - 18 years old

You will find each of these described in a bit more detail in this section, each on its own page.

Scouts...

Scouts can be found all over the world, and there are more than 28 million, from Aberdeen to Timbuctoo! At Scouts, you get the chance to try out lots of different activities. And meeting new people and making friends is what Scouts is all about.

The scouts programme of activities helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit, and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
